Amanda Hood is

an Australian comedy writer and director based in New York City.

Amanda’s films have screened at major film festivals including Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), Flickerfest, St Kilda, as well as on Virgin Airlines, Sky Television (UK), RAI TV (Italy) and NHK (Japan).

Amanda began her career making documentaries for the BBC, then freelanced on feature films, TV series and commercials before falling in love with improv comedy.

Amanda won the Australian Director's Guild Metroscreen Fellowship and was flown to Los Angeles to pitch her original projects to Sony, Fox TV, Mosaic, WME, MarVista Entertainment and Anonymous Content.

Amanda was selected to shadow two A-List Australian directors: Oscar-nominated Bruce Beresford on Ladies in Black (Sony Pictures) and Erin White on Paper Dolls (Paramount TV).

Amanda’s feature screenplay Baby Boomers was a finalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards which placed in the top 10 (comedy category) out of 6,000 scripts from around the world.
